About
Growing up in the countryside and woods of England, I developed a knowledge and love of nature, that has never left me.
I trained both as an artist and an educator, and left England to teach abroad. This satisfied my desire to travel and broadened my horizons in many ways.
While living in the Bahamas, I painted landscapes, seascapes and images of daily life, which earned me a nomination for a ‘Distinguished Citizen’s Award’, by the Chamber of Commerce. I then undertook the task of illustrating the wildflowers of Grand Bahama for a book, which brought me to the US in search of a publisher. While in Florida I began painting orchids for clients, and after moving to Tennessee I began painting Ecosystems, which I continued after relocating to Indiana.
I have now completed a series of six Ecosystem paintings, which feature plants and wildlife from different areas, and months of the year. I am now going out as a speaker, using these paintings to demonstrate the interconnectedness of nature, and the importance of protecting and creating natural habitats.
Besides my ecosystems, I paint a variety of subject matters and have written and illustrated three books. Watercolor is my primary medium but I also work in acrylics, oil, and scratchboard and have recently delved into the art of Plein Air.
To sum up, painting is my passion, nature nourishes my soul and teaching gives my life purpose and meaning.
